60 MINUTES TO WISDOM : Episode 10 : The Person You Become After Disappointment

The Person You Become After Disappointment

Disappointment can be drastic.

It can change the way you interpret people.

After being betrayed, you may start looking for hidden motives.

Being repeatedly let down, you may stop expecting much from anyone.

Trusting the wrong person, even.... genuine kindness can make you suspicious.

Why does this happens...? Because Your mind is trying to protect you.

It remembers patterns, and with every hint we anticipate danger.

This behaviour can become a problem ...when yesterday's evidence starts judging today's people.

Imagine someone new enters your life.

They keep their word.

They show up, normally

They treat you with consideration.

Yet you remain guarded ...because someone before them did the opposite.

That isn't necessarily intuition.

Sometimes it's an old experience wearing the mask of wisdom.

Real wisdom does not say, "Trust everyone."

It says, "Watch carefully, but don't punish the innocent for someone else's behavior."

You can have discernment without becoming cynical.

You can establish boundaries without building walls.

And you can remember what happened without.... assuming it will happen again.

The goal isn't to become the person you were before disappointment.

It's to become wiser without judging everyone harshly.

In such scenario, question yourself...?

"Am I responding to this person... or to someone from my past?"

The answer can change the way you see an entire relationship.

Let disappointment teach you discernment, not suspicion.

Until next time...

Protect your heart, but don't close it so tightly that goodness can no longer enter.
